I think the most impressive part is that he stays inside the lines.

I think they do some of it, but not the really fancy hardcore slides. If you pay attention to the windows (especially the front windscreen), they ever so slightly blur it. When it’s the hosts in the car, you can see them clear as day. Then magically in a lot of shots, the windows are as clear as mud.

I would imagine out on their home track, they do the sliding. But in situations like this (unfamiliar mountain road in a press vehicle) I wouldn’t be surprised if it’s done by a pro driver.

I’m pretty sure the three of them are much better drivers than they let on, James included. I doubt manufacturers would toss them the keys to some of their greatest offerings if they were amateurs.

They shoot the episode with the guys and then, when they have a clear view of what’s going to be shown they re-shoot all the long range vistas, wild driving, passes and all the details they need for editing. That part is done by professional drivers and the rest of the crew. I’m sure the guys would do some of the stunts themselves if it was something “spontaneous”.

Not just inside the lines, he erases them. I wouldn’t be surprised if that was Jezza, he’s demonstrated his dorifto skills on camera countless times. If there’s one thing he can do, it’s slide a car, and if you look at the tracks, it wasn’t the first take.
